This minor may not be paired with the French major. This minor may be paired with the American Studies major, provided the field of concentration required for the major is not the same as the minor. This minor may be paired with the Biology (Alternate Program) major, provided 3 or more units of the nonscience field of concentration do not overlap.

Students must complete all of the following requirements in addition to the requirements for a bachelor of arts major to graduate with this minor. Some courses may apply toward multiple requirements.

Minor Requirements

Total minor units: 4-7, depending on language proficiency

Four to Seven Units in French, Depending on Language Proficiency:

If Starting with First-year French:

FREN 111 - Beginning French I
FREN 112 - Beginning French II
FREN 211 - Intermediate French I
FREN 212 - Intermediate French II
Three units of FREN 300 or higher (excluding 470)
⇒A minimum of one 300-level French course must be taken at Reed

If Starting with Second-Year French

FREN 211 - Intermediate French I
FREN 212 - Intermediate French II
Three units of FREN 300 or higher (excluding 470)
⇒A minimum of one 300-level French course must be taken at Reed

If Starting Beyond Second-Year French Proficiency:

Four units of FREN 300 or higher (excluding 470)

⇒A minimum of one unit must be from FREN 320 or FREN 321
⇒A minimum of one 300-level French course must be taken at Reed
