This major requires a curriculum proposal with a course plan approved by the CRES committee and the advisor in the department of concentration.

Two Disciplinary Units from Distribution Group II:

Two Additional Units from the History and Social Science Division:
Anthropology (will not apply if ANTH courses are used to satisfy requirements above)
Two Units of economics at Reed

CRES explicitly focuses on the comparative study of race and ethnicity across borders and boundaries. Consequently, the committee strongly recommends as many of the following as possible:
- Proficiency in a non-English language.
- One or more units of CRES courses with an explicit comparative/transnational element.
- Study abroad.
