HIST 383 - Race and Oral Histories in the United States This course examines the history of race and ethnicity in the U.S. through a number of different texts-oral histories, autobiographies, testimonies-to gain insights into the different lived experiences of individuals and communities in the past and present. Students will encounter sources that use oral histories as a method to gain insight into the impact of race and ethnicity on society, preparing them for an oral history project of their own centered on race and social justice in the present.
