Distribution Requirement Rules

• At least 9 courses are required to fulfill the Distribution Requirements; 3 units in each Group. A minimum of 2.67 units will satisfy a Group when a partial-unit or transfer course is applied (see Credit Conversion ).

• “Subject” is defined as the subject code designator for the course.

• The following cannot be applied toward distribution requirements:

  • Courses taken as credit/no credit . 

  • Waivers, placements, or examinations (e.g., AP, IB, or other examination ). 

  • Thesis (470) or independent study (481).
