Major Requirements:
Total major units: 13.5-15 Dance Studies (history, theory, critical and cultural studies):
⇒Courses that satisfy dance studies requirements may not simultaneously satisfy dance studio requirements. Two additional units in dance studies (excluding 470)
Dance Studio (technique, improvisation, choreography and performance):
⇒Courses that satisfy dance studio requirements may not simultaneously satisfy dance studies requirements. One unit of choreography or improvisation from:
Five additional units in dance studio (excluding 470)
⇒With departmental permission, one unit of this requirement may be met by a studio course in art, creative writing, music, or theatre. ⇒Credit for dance technique courses (DANC 101 ) may be applied toward this requirement. A minimum of one unit of the above requirements (studio or studies) must focus on dance outside the Euro-American tradition.
One Unit in Theatre Design
Technical Proficiency:
- 400-level technical proficiency in one dance form
- 200-level technical proficiency in a second dance form
