This major may not be paired with the Russian Minor .
Students must complete all of the following requirements to graduate with a bachelor of arts in this program. Some courses may apply toward multiple requirements.
College Requirements:
Students are required to complete all standard college requirements.
Division Requirements:
Students are required to fulfill the division requirements for their major.
Total divisional units: 3

Major Requirements:
Total major units: 8-13, depending on language proficiency Russian Language Proficiency, Demonstrated by the Following:
- Four units of first-and second-year college-level Russian language, and
- One unit of Advanced Russian: RUSS 300 or RUSS 301
OR - Departmental waiver in cases where the student has demonstrated proficiency
Six Units of Russian Literature & Culture Courses from the Russian Department (excluding 470)
⇒ A maximum of 2 units may be in English translation (LIT) A minimum of two units of the following pre-Twentieth-Century courses:
Recommended, but Not Required:
- Two units HUM 211 , HUM 212 , HUM 221 , or HUM 222 in the sophomore year.
- Courses in English or other literature, philosophy, or history that may be relevant to the chosen area of concentration of the individual student.
- Students are strongly encouraged to complete additional Russian language course work through study abroad or summer language.
