French Language Proficiency, Demonstrated by One of the Following:

  • Successful completion of FREN 212 at Reed
  • Department approval of a course equivalent to FREN 212 taken at another college/university
  • Successful placement into a 300-level French course from a language placement examination at Reed
  • Department approval following an individual assessment of language proficiency

Six Units of French Literature (Not in Translation) at the 300 level or Higher (Excluding 470):

  • A minimum of one in francophone literature
  • A minimum of one in literature prior to the nineteenth century

Junior Year Requirement:

  • Junior qualifying examination
