Dance Minor

(Dance Minor requirements are listed below. Follow these links for the Dance with a Concentration in Dance Studies or Dance with a Concentration in Dance Studio major requirements.)

Students must complete all of the following requirements in addition to the requirements for a bachelor of arts major to graduate with this minor. Some courses may apply toward multiple requirements.

Minor Requirements:

Total minor units: 5

Five Units of Dance Courses

Breadth requirement

  • Dance Studies & Studio:
    ⇒A minimum of one unit in dance studio
    ⇒A minimum of one unit in dance studies
    ⇒Courses that satisfy the dance studies requirement may not simultaneously satisfy the dance studio requirement, and vice versa.
  • A minimum of one unit of the above requirements (studio or studies) must focus on dance outside the Euro-American tradition (DANC 112, DANC 260, DANC 265, DANC 362, DANC 365) 

Level requirement

  • A maximum of one unit may be at the 100 level
  • A minimum of one unit must be at the 300 level or higher (excluding 470)
    ⇒Students should inquire with the Dance department about appropriate substitutions (such as level III/IV technique in DANC 101, where appropriate).
